Signs of the Times

On tonight's new episode of Veronica Mars, our heroine investigates the theft of lab rats. Among other qualities, they are genetically altered to "allow us to investigate the breakdown of cholesterol at the cellular level".

My thought: "but molecular imaging is the big thing now..."

Fun with the FDA

Due to a mishap, my Christmas stocking was left behind this year. My mom mailed its contents to me--filled with chocolate.

And some gum, which is clearly labeled as "Not a low-calorie food."

It has 5 calories per piece. Someone at the FDA is just plain weird...
